Karl Leslie was one of the many DJs working during the 50-hour long Trivia Weekend in KVSC's studio. This year's theme was Vote Trivia '08.

Vote Trivia '08 began at 5 p.m. Friday and kept triviaholics glued to their radios for 50 hours of non-stop trivia, which concluded at 7 p.m. Sunday.

This year, 78 teams participated, 38 from the St. Cloud area. The participant farthest from St. Cloud was a soldier in Iraq who played on a team via the Internet.

Established in 1980, Trivia Weekend has advanced to the cultural phenomenon that Minnesota knows today. Most trivia questions used throughout the weekend are standard questions that involve research. Other questions are classified as visual trivia, which teams answer using a packet of individually numbered images. There is also audio trivia questions, which teams are encouraged to record.

Around 40 to 50 volunteers are needed at the KVSC station in every hour to answer the phone lines the teams call their answers into and to keep the mind blowing questions coming.

The infamous Shake a Hamster Band has spent every Trivia Weekend for the past 20 years recording parodied songs with a trivia spin in the KVSC recording studio. They continued the tradition this year and performed at the post-trivia celebration Sunday night at the Red Carpet.

After the last questions were closed, many teams gathered at an awards ceremony in Ritsche Auditorium to honor the Trivia Champions, which for the second year in a row was Pull-Start Diesel.
