China’s measures slowed spread of H1N1

Nov. 17, 2009 11:45 a.m.  CHANGGANG, China- About 100 farmers in the southern Chinese village of Changgang were sealed off by police from the outside world for about a week because of the H1N1 flu epidemic because a visitor from California showed symptoms of the H1N1 flu.

National deficit reaches new highs

Nov. 17, 2009 11:43 a.m.  WASHINGTON- The federal deficit reached a record for October when the new budget year began with the government still in the red ink. Economists worry that if the deficits continue, it could push up interest rates and prolong the economic recovery.

Internet access now available for parents

Nov. 17, 2009 11:56 a.m.  ST. CLOUD- Parents are now able to access the new virtual student information system from their home computers through the district’s Web site. The student information system allows parents to follow their children’s progress in school with attendance history, class schedules, grades and school assignments. This also gives parents an easier way to communicate with the teachers.
