Bridal shop swindler sentenced, fined

FOLEY, Minn. -- Carrie Lynn Aasen, former owner of the bridal shop This Side of Heaven in Sauk Rapids, faces 100 days in jail with a charge of stealing $1,158 from a future bride and her mother.

More than 75 brides and their families took their complaints to the Sauk Rapids police that Aasen took their orders and money for dresses and decorations and never delivered them.

Aasen will serve her sentence and a $50 fine in addition to a $1,158 restitution and write a letter of apology to the first victim and her mother.
