SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.–– The Control, Regulate and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010, which allows Californians to possess up to one ounce of marijuana, is being considered for a spot on the state’s 2010 ballot. If this Act goes through, anyone 21 or older can legally possess the drug for their own recreational use. Residents would also have the right to grow their own 25-square foot plot of marijuana on private property for their own personal consumption.
The legalization of marijuana has been given a second look in this economic hard times because California cities are faced with shrinking revenues and a massive state budget crisis.
