MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. ––Despite the state of the current economy, the Legislature has requested $403.6 million to repair and remodel the state’s colleges and universities. About two-thirds of this money is proposed to help repair or replace campus buildings.

In the proposal, SCSU is included to receive $44.8 million to build an integrated science and engineering laboratory building, which is the largest proposed allocation for one project.  St. Cloud Technical College is included to receive $5.6 million to renovate its Allied Health Center.

After being approved, the funding would be distributed in 2010 where $306 million would be contributed through state bonding while MnSCU would borrow the other $97.8 million.
