WAITE PARK, Minn. –– Waite Park’s Grand Day Parade took place on  Saturday and drew larger crowds than previous years. Festival organizers say that numbers of parade goers swelled from 3,000 to about 3,700 and they attribute this to this year’s weak economy.

As local citizens are on a tight budget, they are taking advantage of festivals and other inexpensive forms of entertainment. The parade also displayed more participants from surrounding cities and parade-goers noticed that the volunteers “stepped it up this year.”
