MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. –– 57 percent of Minnesota’s 11th-grade students passed the tougher standardized math requirement for graduating high school, according to the Minnesota Department of Education. At the same time 78 percent of 10th-graders met the reading requirement which showed a 3 percent improvement from the 2007-08 school year.
These tougher standards will continue to rise for the following years. The results are encouraging and shows the Department of Education that if the schools issue high expectations, kids will meet them.
