The recent year-long suspension of Pacman Jones and eight-game penalty imposed on Chris Henry sent a message to all NFL players that the league will not put up with questionable off-field behavior.

Apparently, no one at Winter Park sent the memo to Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin.

Griffin was kicked out of Spin nightclub in Minneapolis Saturday for violating the dress code by sagging his pants below his waist. Griffin proceeded to engage bouncers at the club before police restrained him outside.

The Vikings defensive back was arrested for misdemeanor disordly conduct and reportedly paid $50 bail to leave the Hennepin County jail.

Spin nightclub's Web site, spinmn.com, discusses the club's strict dress policy. The club accepts looks that are, "clean, stylish, fun, clubby, rockstar, popstar, pornstar or moviestar." The club does not want looks that look, "like you are going to a picnic in shorts and a ballcap or like you're coming from the gym in sweats and sneakers."

This latest Vikings crime story is really a tale of two dim-witted entities.

First, it's ridiculous that Spin has the audacity to use vague terms such as "rockstar" and "moviestar" to describe acceptable looks. Apparently Matt Damon loses his "moviestar" look if he is in shorts and a ballcap at a picnic or while working out at the gym.

And who is Spin to say Griffin wasn't trying to epitimize one of their "looks." Maybe by sagging his pants low enough to show his ass, Griffin was trying to achieve the "pornstar" look.

Either way, Spin has nothing to lose by kicking him out. The real fool in all of this is Griffin.

The second-year corner from Texas is set to assume a starting role on defense this fall. Griffin will fill in for the departed Fred Smoot, who is best remembered as the mastermind behind the sex boat scandal as well as for lackluster play in the secondary.

When it comes to coverage, Griffin needs to remember a few simple pointers: Cover your man or zone on the field, avoid coverage on the front page of the news section and cover your butt while at Spin.
