Tennis picks up wins in St. Joseph

The Husky men's and women's tennis teams were in action in St. Joseph Monday.
The SCSU women's tennis team picked up a 6-3 victory Monday against the College of St. Benedict.
The Huskies won 5 of 6 singles matches and 1 of 3 doulbes matches en route to the win.
Dawn Olsen won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 singles spot for the Huskies, and Kelley Severson followed her up with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 3 singles spot.
Jacqueline Peterson battled Jen Kling 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) to get the win in the No. 4 singles match.
Kelly Freese and Alicia Wegman earned wins for the Huskies 6-0, 6-0 and 6-3, 7-5, in the No. 5 and No. 6 spots respectively.
Peterson and Freese won 8-4 in the No. 3 doubles match to conclude Monday's match-up.
The SCSU women improved to 18-10 overall on the season.
The Husky men also picked up a 6-3 win against St. John's University Monday.
Wojciech Batorski won 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 1 men's singles match. Kevin Lukens won the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-0, and Tom Ronning won 6-3, 0-6 (defaulted set), 10-3 in the No. 5 singles spot.
Kris Johnson won 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 6 match-up to close out the Huskies singles play for Monday.
Joey Jachymowski and Ronning won 9-7 in the No. 2 doubles match. Lukens and Johnson followed up with a 9-8 win in the No. 3 doubles spot.
The Husky men improved to 20-7 overall on the season.
The women will travel to Omaha for the NCC Championships Friday and Saturday.
The men will host the 2007 NCC Championships at Gold's Gym in Sartell Sunday. The men are the five-time defending NCC champions and have won 13 NCC championships since 1986.
