The SCSU men's golf team has extended their year into post-season play for the fourth consecutive year.

For the fourth time in team history the Huskies will play in the NCAA Division II West/Northwest Super Regional, and the team has enjoyed success there in the past.

The Huskies will be traveling to Lakewood, Colo., May 6-9, to participate in the Regional, which is being hosted by Regis University and the Colorado School of Mines.

At the Super Regional, the Huskies will be competing against 15 other teams; eight teams will come from both the West and Northwest, as well as five individuals from each region.

SCSU won the Northwest Region in both 2004 and 2006, putting the team in contention for the NCAA Division II National Championship. In 2004, SCSU took 16th place, and took 17th in 2006.

SCSU is also returning one individual medalist from last year's team, as junior Corey Grace was a co-medalist and finished 87th at the national championships.

The only other player still on the team to compete in last year's regional and national championships is sophomore Jake Zilkoski. Zilkoski took 11th in the regional and tied for 77th at the national championships.

In their last meet of the regular season, the men's golf team lost in a dual meet to St. John's University Thursday, SJU shooting a 7-under-par 281, 6 shots better than the Huskies.

Junior Danny Anderson shot a 67 to tie SJU's Joe Schoolmeesters for medalist honors.

Earlier in their spring season, SCSU won their first two meets of the year, the USD invite and the Upper Iowa Spring Classic, before taking third at the Northwest Regional Qualifier.

Playing with split squads, SCSU's red team placed second at the St. John's Invitation April 21 and 22 with a score of 598 over the two days. First-year golfer Travis Ross took second at the meet with rounds of 72 and 68. The black team finished 11th.
