Culture Review

As a child, the "Star Wars" saga was force fed into the throats of many young soon-to-be followers. The films were inspirational and so were the characters within them who relayed messages of truth, honor and civility.

People across the globe wanted to be Jedi Masters, and others wanted to step into the Dark Side to see what true evil can produce. But one thing is for sure, "Star Wars" has changed the face of society permanently.

The saga all began with a small idea from a geeked-out man with many ideas of mythical proportions. George Lucas took his thought-up landscape of newly imagined solar systems and races to form a new place.

A place which now is almost as well known as the planet we live on. But this place was, "In a galaxy far, far away..."

The first film reached only 32 theaters May 25, 1977. And now the film has affected millions of adoring fans in nearly every corner of the world.

Many people have complained about the "new" trilogy add-ons, though to look at these films from afar they are all immaculate conceptions of the mind.

Without Yoda, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Princess Amidala and Darth Maul, the way people look at films would be on a different plane, maybe a plane such as Endor where the furry fearsome Ewoks arose from.

For people who have not seen these films, it is a must see for anyone to partake in who watches films in general. They are not only sci-fi masterpieces, they are a piece of history.

The saga of "Star Wars," which is now six films and many additional cartoons and spin-offs, has reached its 30-year mark, and its action figures, novels and many other products are still being produced to keep the films on the mental, tip of newly found fans minds.

"Star Wars" will live on in the minds and stories of people to come for centuries, and like the greatest Jedi master Yoda once said, "Size matters not."
