The band Grayshot unveiled the already smash hit "Waiting Days" during its CD release party Saturday at the Varsity Theater. Brothers Aaron and Christian Ankrum co-produced "Waiting Days" and have been playing together in Grayshot for nearly 10 years.

Along with Aaron Ankrum, 25, and Christian Ankrum, 22, drummer Kevin Holvig, 26, has completed the trio for nearly two years now. Aaron Ankrum performs lead vocals and guitar while Christian Ankrum plays bass and sings back-up vocals. Both brothers are also involved in programming and producing.

Aaron Ankrum described Grayshot's sound as alternative pop/alternative rock with electronic elements built into it.

Christian Ankrum joined Grayshot when he was in eighth grade. The band's name came from the word "Tratiot," a town in Ohio where the brothers' grandfather was born.

Because the town Tratiot and the word "Grayshot" are both pronounced the same, Aaron simply changed the spelling, and the band was given a name.

Aaron Ankrum runs his own self-titled production company and produces for bands including Moxie Bliss, Elizabeth Hunnicutt and Jesse Lang.

"A lot of times I'll work with younger artists and help them write and get an EP out," Aaron Ankrum said. "Christian helps produce, but more recently people have been hiring him to play on their records."

The band released its first self-titled album in 2003 and its second album, "All in Time" in 2005. Its third album "Waiting Days" was officially released September 2007.

Because the Ankrum brothers are so passionate about music, they plan to continue playing for as long as possible.

"We want to build this thing to be everything that it can be," Aaron Ankrum said. "It's not like we have to reach a certain level to be happy. We just want to keep it going."

Because of its CD release party, the band has been particularly busy fine-tuning its work.

"Especially this week, we have been unbelievably busy," Aaron Ankrum said. "When it's going, it's really going, and we just keep up because things need to get done."
