Especially important for student organizations, Mainstreet is an opportunity for them to inform the public about their group's activities, recruit members and find out what other groups have to offer.
Atwood Mall, lined with food, prizes, candy and other various free items, was a menagerie of new and returning students and faculty tasting food and gathering brochures.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., students connected with friends and faculty while browsing tables and joining groups.
Clubs like SCSU men's lacrosse demonstrated its sport, and the African Student Association demonstrated African instruments and music.
KVSC played music alongside other campus media outlets, while Coborn's and Bernick's Pepsi gave away free food, coupons and pop.
Other organizations present at the event included the Organization to Prevent AIDS in Africa (OPAA), CODEPINK, All Tribes Council, Dance Team, University Program Board (UPB), OutLoud!, Investment Club, Skydive Club, Campus Crusade for Christ, Campus Recreation and various other sports groups, cultural organizations and sororities and fraternities.
