Violent actions near campus are startling

Last week a college shooting took place in Delaware, and two students lost their lives.
It's a tragic scenario no student should have to go through.
At the same time, SCSU was involved in a situation where a possibly armed male was in a fight in the dorms.
The non-student suspect ended up not having a gun, but it still is a little disturbing that someone is threatening someone with a gun.
Six days before the possible gun possession on campus, a male was walking at dusk and was jumped.
The student was injured and had his possessions stolen.
It is only October, fall semester is only one month in and it seems to me there is way too much violence and illegal activity taking place on and near campus.
Just when I thought the problems were over...
Wednesday night, two unknown males walked up to an apartment a couple blocks from campus and knocked on one of the doors. The resident answered the door to the two men, who first punched the resident, then tied him up so they could loot his apartment.
This is my fifth school year at SCSU, and I do not remember so many incidents involving such hateful crimes happening in such a short period of time.
Maybe when I was younger, I wasn't as aware of real world issues that were going on right in front of me, but either way, this is getting out of hand.
People have always assumed SCSU was this huge party school, and that is all that goes on here.
A fair share of partying does takes place, but what college doesn't have it?
Those comments never bothered me, because there is really no way to prove how much drinking is taking place.
Lately, I have been getting comments from friends, family and others about how bad and unsafe this college is.
I would love to argue against it, but the whole community of St. Cloud is on its to becoming a bad place to live.
If I had a family and children, I would not want them exposed to what takes place on a daily basis.
