CALUMET, Mich. -- The body of George Gipp, who was known for originally saying "win one for the Gipper" to Fighting Irish coach Knute Rockne, has been exhumed after being buried for nearly 87 years.
He was exhumed at Lakeview Cemetery near Calumet, Mich. because of an upcoming book written by historian Michael Bynum on Gipp's life. The book had been scheduled for release this fall but was delayed to include DNA testing results.
