ROME - Wednesday, Pope Benedict XVI named 23 new cardinals. Eighteen of them are under 80 years of age, and it qualifies them to vote in a new pope.
Archbishop Daniel N. DiNardo and John Patrick Foley are the only two new cardinals from the United States.
They are both among the 18 who are allowed to vote in the next pope election.
