Syria quietly closes border to Iraq

DAMASCUS, Syria. - Syria closed its borders to a majority of Iraqi refugees and introduced new visa rules.
The new rule will require the 1.5 million Iraqis who are occupying Syria to return to Iraq.
The change went into effect Oct. 1.
During the past four days before closing the border, 25,000 Iraqis crossed the border into Syria.
