As the wind picks up and the leaves fly by, students long for some place warmer.

Quincy Nang, a third-year student studying bio-chemistry, communications studies and health communications, is very comfortable at SCSU, but made the suggestion that the campus be relocated.

"If SCSU was in California, it would be the best university ever," he said.

Nang has just been accepted onto Sodexho's Student Board of Directors for a second year. He is one of 25 members across the country, selected from more than 300 applicants, to attend national meetings, engage in workshops and focus groups and participate in research and discussions. Topics range from menu options to sustainability efforts.

"We have selected these students because they have proven to be some of the best and brightest," said Dan Dunne, senior director of marketing research and innovation for Sodexho Campus Dining. "They have been very active and vocal participants in the development of many new programs. We rely on their input and feedback to help us design programs and initiatives."

Sodexho, Inc. is the leading provider of integrated food and facilities management services in the United States, Canada and Mexico, with $7.3 billion in annual revenue and 125,000 employees.

Sodexho serves more than 10 million customers daily through corporations, health care facilities, college campuses and government sites.

The student board of directors has a new initiative.

Nang said, "Every company has a duty to make the world a better place, especially with the MDGs (Millennium Development Goals) that are coming up in 2015. As a leading food company, Sodexho has a duty, too."

Sodexho has created committees to get a student perspective on certain issues, and Nang serves as an integral member on the food and hunger and community development committee.

"People who have knowledge no longer have choice, but a responsibility to other people," Nang said. "Because we are such a leading company, it's no longer a choice; we have to be practical in what we do to help. Eradicating hunger in the world is the number one goal, and to fight extreme poverty."

Sodexho, Inc. funds the Sodexho Foundation, an independent charitable organization that since its founding in 1999 has made more than $9.2 million in grants to fight hunger in the United States.
