MANKATO, Minn. -- After a night out drinking to celebrate her 21st birthday in Mankato, Amanda Jax, of Mayer, Minn., was dead the next morning.
She was found unresponsive Tuesday by friends on a bed in an off-campus apartment near the MSU campus.
She was a nursing student at Mankato from 2005 to 2007, but was currently not enrolled in classes. She was in town to celebrate her birthday.
Based on initial findings by authorities, "it appears that alcohol played a significant role in Jax's death," the police news release continued.
