Dashboard Confessional, Augustana and John Ralston stopped at SCSU on their 2007 North American Solo Tour

Dashboard Confessional front man Chris Carrabba serenades SCSU students Sunday night in Halenbeck Hall. SCSU was the only Minnesota stop for his 2007 North American Solo Tour with openers John Ralston and Augustana. Augustana lead singer Dan Layus performed keys and vocals during the title track "Boston" from the band's 2005 album "All the Stars and Boulevards.

Sandness expresses artistic creativity

Fifth-year-student Ben Sandness is preparing for graduate school as a double major in fine art print making and drawing. Sandness has been recommended by assistant professor of art Justin Quinn to be featured as an artistic influence on campus at SCSU in the first of a series called Creative Juices.

'Maiden' looks into politics and torture

Sunday's performance of Ariel Dorfman's drama "Death and the Maiden," in the Arena Stage in the basement of the Performing Arts Center provided an important look at the effects of political turmoil and the torture that sometimes accompanies it. Professor of theater, film studies and dance Brenda Wentworth directed the play, which was written by Dorfman while he was living in the United States after fleeing his home country of Chile during the brutal rule of military leader Augusto Pinochet.

Carell improves in 'Dan in Real Life'

Steve Carell emerges from the flood of disappointment that was "Evan Almighty" to bring his audience a much more inviting and compassionate film. "Dan in Real Life" blends romantic comedy with a realistic home movie-feel to give viewers a look at the life of a newspaper columnist and single father of three girls.

Halloween is re-directed from original roots

Yesterday was Halloween. Halloween in today's age is a mass merging of different cultures coming together and mixing with each other and making something most people can be happy with. Of course, this is true for really every other holiday, be it religious or otherwise.
