Depending on which opinion you're hearing, both Peyton Manning and Tom Brady top the list in conversation about the best quarterback in the NFL.
Both are amazing quarterbacks, and both seem to one-up each other in one way or another.
Tom Brady was drafted in the sixth round out of Michigan. Manning was the first overall pick and played college ball at Tennessee
Manning has one Super Bowl ring. Brady has three rings and wiped out Peyton twice along the way in the playoffs.
This season has seen Brady get the better of Manning in the statistical department. Currently, Tom Brady has the best overall passing rating with 136.2, and Manning is right behind with 102.9.
Brady is having a career year with 30 touchdowns in only eight games, a pace that is projected to break Manning's record of 49 touchdowns from 2004.
In the midseason conversations about MVPs, Brady is deservedly at the top of the list. This would be his first career regular season MVP.
Both have had great starts to their careers, and both will go to the Hall of Fame when their careers end, going down in history as two of the best quarterbacks of all time.
I can go all day describing their career or yearly stats, but which one is better?
The answer to that question is very simple, and people shouldn't think twice about it: Peyton Manning.
I am not saying Tom Brady is bad, but I think he gets a lot of credit and hype when it belongs somewhere else.
Manning has gone through harder times then Brady. Over the past five years, the Patriots have given up about 16 points a game while the Colts have given up 20.
Peyton had to work harder to get more out of his team and find success in this league. In that regard, Manning has done just as well or even better than Brady.
Additionally, Manning had to deal with the pressure of following in the footsteps of his father, Archie. Men always struggle with the concept of trying to live up to their father's name. Imagine how it must be to do so when your dad was a well-known NFL quarterback.
