Three finalists named for head coach position

After 102 days, the search for the next SCSU football coach is drawing to a close. The coaching candidates for the head football coach job were available to the public in an open forum last week. Acting head coach/defensive coordinator Scott Underwood, Wartburg athletic director Rick Willis and Bemidji State head coach Jeff Tesch are the finalists to replace former head coach Randy Hedberg, who left SCSU to take the quarterbacks coach position at Southern Illinois.

Staff Report With the winter sports season coming to a close, several SCSU athletes have received postseason awards for their accomplishments this season. Men's Hockey Sophomore forwards Ryan Lasch and Andreas Nodl and freshman forward Garrett Roe were all named to the 2007-08 All-WCHA team Thursday.

Huskies lose to Gophers but qualify for NCAA tournament

The recent string of hot play for the No. 7 ranked Huskies came to a heartbreaking end Thursday in the opening round of the 2008 WCHA Final Five, as Minnesota picked up a 3-2 win. The game seemed destined for overtime but the Gophers, who won last year's Broadmoor Trophy in the WCHA Tournament, found a late hero in Mike Howe.

Softball sweeps weekend series

Offense may win games in college softball, but well-rounded play is what's going to be needed to contend in the NCC. The SCSU softball team continued to show they fit into the latter of those two categories this weekend, sweeping a four-game series against Mayville State and Valley City State Friday and Saturday at the Husky Dome.

Garnett comments the latest in a series of blunders for Taylor

During his tenure as owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Glen Taylor has never seen anything go right for the team. I always thought the reason they have been so terrible was strictly Kevin McHale's incompetence. But after what Taylor said last week, it has become clear that he is not immune to having poor judgment.
