Now that it’s summer and all the new episodes of your favorite shows have dwindled and the only new programs that are on are trashy reality shows and pilots that will crash and burn never to see fall, it is time to click over to some of the best reruns on television.
Today I am going to enhance your TV viewing with the best five reruns to watch.

5. Family Feud
One of the all time best game shows and is on a number of stations. Originally hosted by Richard Dawson in the 1970s, the show became immensely popular. Dawson, ladies man, would smooch every lady on the lips, regardless of her martial status or looks. This is hands down the best version of the show and can be seen late nights on the Game Show Network (GSN). After some failed attempts to bring it back in the late 80s and early 90s, Louie Anderson became the host for the 21st century. Anderson and his comically shrill voice did an adequate job until he was axed in 2002. Next up was Richard Karn, most notably known as Al Borland from Home Improvement Karn lacked a certain hosting prowess and was replaced in 2006 by John O’Hurley from Seinfeld. O’Hurley is the worst host yet, and Richard Dawson needs to be reinstated for the show to regain its popularity. It currently runs on Ion television and the My Network 10 along with GSN.
4. How I Met Your Mother
Although the show is will be back for a fifth season in the fall, reruns air on Mondays on CBS. This show is hilarious and all its previous four seasons’ episodes can be enjoyed again and again throughout the summer. Neil Patrick Harris makes the show what it is and it is rumored he got the part because of his role in “Harold and Kumar Go to Whitecastle.” Witty writing and fantastic characters make this show a must watch for rerun seekers this summer.
3. Worlds Strongest Man Competitions
Located on the ESPN family of networks, this show highlights the strongest men in the world. Reruns air constantly on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Classic. It is amazing what these guys can do, nobody can resist watching a 300 pound behemoth pull an 80 ton airplane or toss body weight kegs over a wall. It began back in 1977 with American Bruce Wilhelm taking the cake, and the current champion is Mariusz Pudzianowski from Poland has won the completion a record five times.
2. Family Guy
Television’s second favorite cartoon family (behind the Simpsons) can be found on various channels at all times of the week. The Griffin clan’s hilarious antics and comedicially genius spoofs entertain and cause rolling-on-the-floor laughter. Created by Seth McFarlane the first couple seasons of the show did not stick with viewers, but a strong DVD following brought them back to primetime. Now the show is a sensation and new episodes can be found Sundays on Fox. Reruns air on My Network TV, TBS and Adult Swim (on the Cartoon Network) nightly. When bored any viewer can surf to one of these channels and find Peter, Lois, Chris, Meg, Stewie and Brian waiting for them to Laugh and entertain for a half an hour.
1.Scrubs
Topping the list is one of the best written comedies of our generation. Scrubs follows the doctors of Sacred Heart hospital through their interactions with patients in the intensive care unit. Although at times the show can be serious, mostly it is a barrel of laughs and suits most every viewer. It can be seen every night on Comedy Central, WGN, KSTC 45, TVLAND and ABC. Eight seasons of episodes (I’ve seen them all) are hard to miss as it is on nearly five hours a day. Doctor John Dorian, played by Zach Braff, leads the cast with his daydreams, quirky thoughts and never ending feud with the Janitor. The show is brilliant; it is no wonder it’s on a variety of channels so many times a day.
With many of these fantastic reruns to choose from, there should be no bored puttering through the channels this summer. If none of these shows is on (unlikely) there is always going outside and being active, but who the hell wants to do that?
