Recently ESPN reporter Erin Andrews was filmed in the nude. The smoking hot 31-year-old’s lawyers say that she was “surreptitiously” taped. Translation the footage was acquired without Andrews’ knowledge.

Lies.

She knew exactly what was happening. How? There are two big things that make this a huge publicity stunt.

First, according to an article in the Kansas City Star Andrews was “brushing her hair, ironing her pants, and checking her backside in the mirror.” All of this while naked.

What kind of person irons their pants while in their birthday suit?

Apparently, Andrews does.

Checking out her backside. That, although a more acceptable thing to do in the nude, but I ask what’s the point?

If she wants to check out her backside all she needs to do is type her name in Google and millions of pictures of her ass on the sidelines of a football game or baseball diamond will pop-up, check it out there.

Clearly if you walk around naked in your hotel room for five minutes, ironing your pants you want someone to walk in or snag a picture from the window or in this case make a peephole video.

The other reason this was all to make Andrews more famous is because nobody knew it was her at first.

Until ESPN stepped in and told the initial Web site to remove the video, anyone very well could have mistaken Andrews for another of the millions of naked hot blonde chicks roaming around the Internet with videos of themselves ironing and checking her backside in the flesh.

Her lawyers now insist that they need to take action to prevent to the spread of the video and pictures from the tape.

They threaten to not only catch whoever posted the video, but to punish anyone else who posts it.

Fat chance.

The way the internet works today with the viral video market, once a video is posted it spreads like chicken pox at a Hannah Montana concert.

That and it doesn’t really matter if they do find the person who posted the video, Andrews like compensated them heftily.

With the press she is receiving now she will have her own show on ESPN or E! anytime now.

Why did she need the publicity you ask?

She was already voted the sexiest sportscaster by Playboy for 2008 and 2009.

I have two guess’ as to why.

First is that she was trying to one-up Rachel Nichols, who must have been stealing her ESPN spotlight.

Well congratulations, nobody is talking about her, that’s for sure.

Second, she’s 31, which is old for a reporter whose sole reason for being a reporter is because she is more attractive than the next girl who doesn’t bumble her words.

Yeah, 31 maybe the new 20, but girls are dressing like they’re 20 at 12 nowadays anyhow, so looking 20 at 31 isn’t much of a feat.

If she wants to look younger try dating one of the Jonas brothers instead of paying some guy to tape a blurry five minute clip of you ironing your pants.

Well now it looks like the editorial board has been called to share their "opinions" as to what makes an opinion an opinion (see: Opinion Pieces are Not Objective News). Someone should really sit in on a journalism 101 class at SCSU and double check whats being taught there.

Hate speech is not free speech and definitely NOT what an Editor in Chief should be allowing to be printed on university media.

My opinion is that the Editor in Chief should show some respect for herself, her university, her profession and her gender by removing this "opinion" before it damages the university's image any more.

you're exactly right, i've watched the video a couple times and when you see it the second time it is so obvious...even though there is a mirror in front of the bed in a hotel room, no girl curls her hair like that in perfect view of the peephole, you do it in front of the bathroom mirror because that's where you do your makeup!! duh...she's so busted, that's why ESPN has gone mum since it came out. Why is she deliberately bouncing up and down, grabbing her ass??! cmon guys this one is obvious....want more proof, I have a friend who has been a producer for ESPN for 15 years, word is she has made her rounds w/pro baseball players and is commonly known as a freak sexually, with several fetishes, exhibitionism is among them....ask around you'll find this true...ESPN warned her one more slip and she's done....ESPN had a professional body language specialist review the tape and said he's 100% sure she knows the entire time she's aware its going on, and what's up with when she walks over to the door to pick something up, as she bends down she tucks her tummy in...nobody does that unless you're aware you're being watched....go back and watch it again and tell me im wrong.

To The Chief Editor:

I was appalled to read Mr. Ohmann's opinion piece on ESPN's Ms Andrews and how she knew what she was doing and asked for it. I was sickened that in 2009 SCSU would allow such sexist, chauvinistic and distasteful media to be printed.

To have an opinion is one thing, to spew chauvinistic ignorance against women is an entirely different matter.

This kind of print media is hurting the SCSU image and reputation as well as foster an attitude and agenda which is harmful and damaging to its female allumni.

Erin Andrews is a human being who expected (as we all do) a level of privacy within the walls of her hotel room. She was wronged and to allow your sports editor to condone such behavior by others shows complete disrespect on the part of the university.

I would hope that this piece of sexist trash talk will be removed from your website and a public apology from the editor who wrote it will be put in its place.

It also might be a good idea to pull the sports editor position from Mr. Ohmann and get him some counselling and an English 101 course because his attitude and skills are lacking to be sure

Ace Mac, in response to your comments you need to learn the difference between "Honesty" and "Opinion". Tylor is not being "honest" just because he is sharing his sexist "opinion". And while free speech gives everyone the right to be as stupid as you wanna be, that doesnt make what he says about Andrews true or even material that should be printed by an upstanding college media.

Mr. Ohmann's article is unintelligent (especially for a college student), contradictory and his english is not college level by any means.

Tyler you need to choose another hobby in life, writing (and thinking) is not your strong point. First of all you contradict yourself in your own piece by first stating,

"what kind of person irons their pants while naked"

and then only a few paragraphs later stating,

"anyone very well could have mistaken Andrews for another of the millions of naked hot blonde chicks roaming around the Internet with videos of themselves ironing and checking her backside in the flesh."

So you have answered your own question.... "what kind of person irons in the buff? Millions of women do! Google it.

Your "google it" comment only confirms that you spend way too much time on the internet viewing images of women and very little time actually dating them and getting to know them.

My opinion would be that you should put shut down your computer and spend more time reading some tips on how to actually get a date. And while you are at it, check out a book or two on how to stop being a sexist pig.

Being married for over 17yrs I know first hand that women often iron their pants before they put them on, its just easier that way.

I would be curious to know if you actually own an iron yourself or if you have even ever used one. Have you ever tried to iron pants that you are already wearing?

If you get dressed, then go to the closet and get what you are really going to wear, iron it, get undressed and put on what you just ironed you might well be called an idiot for going through all those unecessary steps just to put pants on.

As for checking her backside in the mirror, you really are quite ignorant about the opposite sex. Judging by your photo you probably dont have a regular workout routine which might prompt you to monitor the results and see if its working.

The University Chronicle should be ashamed to have printed your sexist, un-intellectual opinion on this subject.

You should really put more thought (and exercise) into your daily routine, and consider having the capacitors checked in your brain Mr OHMann.

This is a great example of media bias and how it has shaped the way we think we should be receiving our news. it is appalling to me that so many of you think this is a bad article just because you don't agree with it. the writer of this article should PAT himself on the back for being an individual and stepping out of the mainstream. here is an example of a young man that is in college and has written a article to voice his opinion in a forum that SHOULD honor free speech, and you toad lickers are nailing him to a cross for being honest. Keep up the good work Tyler. the funny thing about the majority of people that are posting negative comments about this article is that they most likely think they are really forward thinking people. they probably preach diversity and tolerance all day long while they hug trees and rescue whales from Japaneses fishing boats. its funny how the fart sniffers that claim to be tolerant are only diverse if it fits their agenda.

Never have I been more proud of Saint Cloud's very fine University paper. Recently they run an ad for questioning the holocaust, and now this wonderful, wonderful opinion piece.

Now clearly, the author of this is completely correct in his statements. ANYONE, and I mean anyone that is nude deserves to be punished and exploited for their dirty little sin. Every time I undress to shower, I look over my shoulder, and shed a single tear for what I am doing. I mean, who are any of us to think that we have the right to privacy when we are exposing our dirty, naked flesh?

Listen. Sexism in relation to sports is nothing new, and I will not be the person to say that an individual's opinion, no matter how stupid and ignorant it is, should be suppressed in any form. What I will say, however, is that the Chronicle should start to really question what it's mission and purpose is as a newspaper. I would think that as a bunch of free-thinking, college kids looking to do this for a living, they would, at the very least, try to protect themselves for a possible future job. But from what I've seen in this paper over the last few years, most of the contributors, sans a select few, will only have a future writing third-rate Craigslist ads.

T.O. I am sure it is normal to you for a woman put her mini-skirt, tube-top, and high heals as fast as they can while grabbing you money off the counter so her pimp does not slap her, but for everyone else it is normal to move around nude in a private room. I know my wife does this every morning while trying to decide what outfit she is going to go with. I don’t thing Erin Andrews needed an more attention, and her career might even take a step back because of this. Sure she might attract more of a mass audience, but not for the reasons she wanted. If it were for money then she would have made a lot more money from Playboy verses your “viral video marketing“ nonsense. As for ESPN issuing the removal letters for publicity, grow up, I am sure you would leave video of some “four-eyed dork” walking around naked who coincidentally looks exactly like you on a web site claiming to be a “certain sports editor from St. Cloud State University Chronicle” for all to see including your Co-worker and friends.

agree with most of the above... not familiar with the st. cloud state university or this newspaper--could be fine institutions, both--but this is an awful first impression. opinion/editorial pieces shouldn't be license to fire off whatever misogynistic, backwards thoughts pop into some simpleton's mind. i can respect differing opinions but there ought to be, you know, some basis/logic/reasoning therefore. this guy's trying to be the next geraldo by throwing nasty allegations out there and hoping something sticks. probably boosted the page views for this sham of an article, but i can guarantee the next time i see an article linked to this paper, i'll be much more likely to pass.

Congratulations Tyler, you just guaranteed yourself to have no future in journalism. The worst thing about this "column" isn't even your ignorant take on the story, it's your horrible syntax, sentence structure and vocabulary. Following a close second would be a severe and eye-opening level of immaturity for a college student, one that appears to be stuck mentally, emotionally and psychologically at about age 14. Thirdly, this piece should instigate an immediate review of your editor's recent job performance. How an atrociously bad column from top to bottom such as this made it past the editor's desk and online is a huge red flag for the Chronicle.

And lastly, when you ask ignorant questions such as "What kind of person irons their pants while in their birthday suit?" you reveal yourself to be a young, foolish, underdeveloped juvenile. You also create the assumption among readers that you are afraid to be naked, let alone walk around in the privacy of your own room without any clothes on. In this great big world that you are still trying to learn how to function in, people such as myself, Erin Andrews and millions of other adults do it every day. Some day after you've grown up a little you might look back on this and feel embarrassed for yourself, but until then we'll pitch in for you.

And one last word of advice: Change your picture post haste. Grow up, lose the hat and try to appear as though you have a grasp on what looking professional entails. Even if you can't write your way out of a paper bag, you should at least look like you have some sense.

Good luck kid.

I understand the difference of news versus opinion--and value both. I'm ashamed a newspaper with a female editor allows this misogynistic content. This is in an accredited journalism program of the university. I presume Erin Andrews also holds a higher degree in journalism, one the sports editor might take a minute to actually research.

Why was she ironing naked? Because she can do whatever she wants to (within reason and law) when she's alone, getting ready in her hotel room, not thinking anyone is watching her. It's a disgusting act. She has been violated and should NOT be considered the victim here. I agree with what everyone has said here, especially Marie. What if this was your "smoking hot" sister? I guess she deserves it, huh. Thank you to babeslovebaseball.com for bringing this disaster of an article to my and everyone in my mailing list's attention. Shame on you, SCSU for posting this garbage.

I have to agree with the other posts about this sad excuse of an article. Tyler, with opinions like that, you should really keep them to yourself. You are completely victim blaming, and attitudes like that support a rape culture. To say that she was asking for it and that if you are a beautiful woman in the privacy of your own space you should just expect some pervert (like yourself) to videotape you and smear your name all over the web - that is just ridiculous.

What if your mother, sister, grandma, any woman in your life that you actually care about, happened to be in their home in the middle of changing clothes (because most people do in fact change their clothes) and some jerk was outside their window filming them? Your response would be that they should have known better, that they had planned it that way and wanted it to happen, that there shouldn't be any consequences to the pervert that did it, but rather the woman should be blamed for every bit of what happened to her. You are disgusting!!! My only solace in you spouting your barbaric opinion is that you will probably never get a date or a decent job. Consider educating yourself about what a rape culture is and how your views of women are "clearly" supporting it. Ignorance is not an excuse, it's a disease!

First, judging by the writing in this "opinion piece" I am going to go ahead and guess that you've never been paid in a professional capacity to work for an employer where you travel extensively, which leads me to the conclusion that you've never stayed in multiple hotels during a week or lived out of a suitcase.

If you were familiar with showering in hotels, or showering in general, you would realize that the bathrooms become extremely humid and they aren't ideal for getting ready, so you typically use the mirrors in the room.

I'm going to take a further leap and say that by looking at your photo, you probably aren't familiar with ironing clothing, either. Why would you dress yourself only to then remove the clothes and put on the clothes you are ironing, you freaking moron?

This may be shocking to someone who probably gets his exercise playing video games in his parents basement, but for those people that do exercise, it's pretty common to check yourself out in the mirror and see what's going on. Google your own as*? By an "editor"?

The only solace I take away from this article being published is that it will probably end your "career" as a "journalist"....unless of course someone is looking for an ignorant pig that cannot has no concept of writing, let alone news writing to work for them. In that case, you should be all set.

JACK-A*S.

To ask why someone would walk around their hotel room when they are the lone occupant is naive; this is something many, many people do (that is not an opinion), something I have done (yes, dudes walk around naked too). And to say that she would want people to know that it is her in the video is a simple (and completely ludicrous) opinion. Not every woman wants millions of people to see them naked. Yes, some do. They are called porn stars. Some men also don't mind, they are also called porn stars. Erin Andrews is a journalist, something you are far from. In order to further her career, she would craft a compelling story, or get an exclusive interview, not post a shady, low-quality video of herself naked. That is something that again, a porn star would do. And just to be clear, Erin Andrews is not a porn star (something it looks like you have overlooked). Just because someone is attractive, on TV alot, and has somewhat of a fan following does not mean they are going to sell every inch of themselves to build on that "celebrity". You've got a lot of work to become a decent writer (I'd suggest you start on it by finding something else to do other than writing).

And great job to the paper here for posting this crap. Yes, I get that it is an opinion but this is ridiculous. Try practicing some journalism up there and retract this story or fire this sad example of...whatever he is.
