Sunday June 21—St. Cloud vs. Battle Creek, W (4-3)
The River Bats started off early with a home run in the first inning by Nick Longmire. He also added another RBI by hitting a sacrifice fly in the third, part of a three-run third.
Starting pitcher Nick Sutherland worked over six innings giving up only four hits and three runs in the fifth posting a 3.60 ERA. The bullpen shutout the rest of the Battle Creeks offense allowing only one hit to wrap a save by Connor Lambert, his fifth save of the season.
Tuesday June 23—St. Cloud vs. Mankato, L (6-0)
Kurtis Frymier, whose last outing was a seven-inning no hitter, pitched six innings giving up 12 hits and six runs. The MoonDogs capitalized in the first by scoring an unearned run and it took off from there.
The MoonDogs scored one more time in the third before striking hard in the sixth inning by knocking in four runs.
The River Bats could only come up with four hits throughout the game falling hard to the MoonDogs.
Wednesday, June 24—St. Cloud vs. Mankato, W (0-3)
The River Bats bounced back against Mankato who was shutout by David Deminsky, who went all nine innings giving up only two hits and two walks, striking out six lowering his ERA to 0.73.
On the offensive end, Jonathon Roof, Matt Summers and Zeke Maxfield each knocked in an RBI to lead the River Bats over the division leading MoonDogs.
Thursday, June 25—St. Cloud vs. Thunderbay, W (3-4)
St. Cloud State right-hander Logan Birr hit the mound for his first career Northwoods League win. Birr went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing only six hits while striking out five. Birr gave up all three runs, which was enough to top Thunder Bay.
Birr received help on the offensive end from Jonathon Roof who knock in two RBIs while Danny Oh and Adam Weisenburger each drove in one.
Friday, June 26—St. Cloud vs. Thunder Bay, L (3-2)
The River Bats fell to Thunder Bay in close duel to the near end. Thunder Bay scored once in the third and on in the top of the seventh to take a two-nothing lead, but the Bats came back in the bottom of the seventh to tie it up at two from back to back hits by Kurt Schlangen and Hugo Hernandez.
Unfortunately for the Bats, Andrew Schugel hit an RBI single to give the Cats the lead and the victory.
With the loss the Bats are eliminated from a chance at winning the Northwoods League’s first-half North Division race.
Saturday, June 27—St. Cloud vs. Duluth, W (0-12)
Although the River Bats couldn’t top the Mankato MoonDogs in the Northwoods division race, the Bats bounce back against Duluth to set a season high six run inning.
Pedro Ramos started the game and nearly finished it going eight innings giving up only two hits, three walks while striking out six bringing his season ERA to 1.29.
Multi-RBI games by Nick Longmire who had two, Zach Richard and Weisenburger knocked in three. The Bats’ bats were endless getting 14 hits while scoring all 12 runs in the sixth, seventh and eight innings. The duration of the game was 4 hours and 18 minutes.
