Mascot is a source of pride

I have been reading opinions on the UND mascot issue for weeks now. It really disturbs me that so many people can be so narrow-minded. It does not make sense to me why so many people can be offended by such a noble mascot.

When a school decides to choose a mascot, do you think they say, “which mascot can we pick to make our school look poorly?”

No they do not. People pick a mascot to represent the strength and nobility of their school. The native American mascot is a symbol of strength, tradition, and nobility. UND picked that mascot to honor the Native Americans, specifically the Sioux.

This is not a racism issue either. No, one is degrading Native Americans. The logo does not have negative connotations. Please explain to me how it is representing the Native American population in a negative way.

One last thing: to all of you protesting the UND mascot, you had better call the PETA organization to piss and whine about the use of the SCSU Huskies.
