Israelis retaliate against Palistinians

For the second consecutive day, Israel fired missiles at Palestinian security buildings in retaliation for attacks on Jewish settlements.

The strike damaged three buildings, but no injuries were reported. The buildings along the Gaza Strip had been evacuated since Friday after an Israeli F-16 jet hit a police compound.

The structures that were hit on Saturday belonged to military intelligence and Force 17, Yassar Arafat’s guard. The missiles blew large holes in the roofs and some of the walls crumbled.

Artifacts suggest human evolution

Archaeologists recently discovered tools in Blombos Cave near Cape Town, South Africa, that suggest that humans developed modern behavior earlier than previously thought. Before, it was assumed that human development occurred very late and abruptly and originated in Europe.

The tools found were made from animal bones. The skill used to create them was much more advanced than in the making of the usual stone tools. There was also symbolic engraving found on some of the artifacts.

The bone tools indicate modern behavior, according to scientists. Their production requires a higher level of planning and conceptualization, an archaeologist at George Washington University said.
