Scenes from Sub-Sahara: a South African experience

In the city it is common to come across what seems to be a total culture clash.  Amidst the bustling streets and shopping malls, you often find traditional markets, dancing and drumming. It is part of what makes South Africa unique. Something new lies around every corner.

Much of our time in Port Elizabeth was spent at the Emfundweni Primary School in Zwide, a nearby township. A group of boys we worked with performed a traditional Xhosa Gumboot Dance on our last day.

On our way out of Judah Square this man  stopped to tell us about the philosophy of the Rastafarian.

The baboons at Cape Point, South Africa, worked very hard to take the Mercedes hood ornament off of our car, but the fine German craftsmanship proved too strong in the end.
