More research needed

Hey Mike (Christensen), if you’re going to say the U.S. did not attend the UN Racism Conference in South Africa is because we (the U.S.) do not want to pay reparations to the 1619-1865 slaves, you should at least research the issue (“Reparations are needed” Jan. 24 University Chronicle).

Per the New York Times and government statements, the U.S. chose not to attend due to our staunch support of Israel and our objections “...to proposed language in conference texts; some documents describe Israeli presence in West Bank and Gaza as a “new kind of apartheid.” 8/31/2001
