Student found dead in bathroom
Karen Marie Hubbard, 19, was found dead in her dorm bathroom at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire after giving birth to a baby girl.
Hubbard was found by a dorm assistant around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Other residents of the dormitory had reportedly entered and left the bathroom during the time of the birth but said they thought Hubbard was just sick.
The situation was investigated further by the university director of housing and it was determined that no one knew that she was pregnant. The director noted that Hubbard herself may not have known.
Medical technicians pronounced Hubbard dead at the scene. The baby is listed in critical condition at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
Demonstrators protest against sex
A protest by two Christian activists occurred outside the Olympic Village in Salt Lake City on Tuesday.
The activists were angered that 12,000 free condoms would be available this year to the athletes during the games. They said that sex should not be an Olympic sport, not even safe sex.
The manager of the Los Angeles store that is supplying the condoms said that if they run out he will send more. He even has them in red, white and blue.
