Patriots upset Rams in Super Bowl
Adam Vinatieri scored a last-gasp field goal Sunday as the New England Patriots beat the St. Louis Rams to the Super Bowl championship in dramatic fashion.
The Rams made a late comeback in the last quarter of the game to tie the score at 17 points each. But with slightly more than a minute to go, the Patriots made their way up the field to give Vinatieri a shot at Super Bowl fame.
Vinatieri stepped up with seconds to go and made the 48-yard kick to the delight of the Patriots fans. The victory was billed as the second biggest upset in Super Bowl history, behind the New York Jets' win over the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.
UW, Eau Claire dorm baby dies
Julienna Marie Hubbard, a baby whose mother died last week after giving birth in a dormitory bathroom at University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, died Sunday at a hospital in Marshfield, Wis.
The infant's mother, Karen Marie Hubbard, was found not breathing Tuesday in a bathroom stall at Oak Ridge Hall at the university. She was pronounced dead at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
A hospital spokesman said the baby died because she was deprived of oxygen around the time of the birth. Paramedics found her when they removed her mother from the bathroom stall.
Karen's parents, Robert and Carol Hubbard, chose the baby's name.
