Michael Moore set to entertain
Enron, Election 2000 and third party politics may all be on the agenda tonight as writer/director/producer Michael Moore speaks to what will presumably be a full house in Kimberly A. Ritsche Auditorium, beginning 8 p.m.
The nationally-known speaker is making one of his first speaking engagement stops since the Sept. 11 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. Moore is slated to discuss his newest book and documentary, as well as to address anything that might come up.
Moore was originally scheduled to speak to SCSU Nov. 12, but after a plane crash in Queens, N.Y., cancelled all flights out of the New York City area that same day, the show had to be postponed. It was rescheduled for tonight.
Kyle Haiman, UPB's Film's Coordinator, said the audience should be ready for the show and those holding tickets should arrive to the show early to ensure a seat in Ritsche Auditorium.
"If you have a regular ticket, be there 10 minutes before the show starts," Haiman said. "If at 7:50 there are seats open in Ritsche, we will allow waiting list people to go in."
Those who aren't granted a seat in Ritsche Auditorium need not fret about missing the presentation entirely, though. Waiting list patrons will be allowed to see Moore's speech via telecast in Ringsmuth Auditorium in James W. Miller Learning Resources Center.
After his speech, Moore will open the show to questions.
"Anyone from the audience can ask questions, and he will answer," Haiman said. "It will be going on as long as people have questions."
After the question and answer session there will be a reception and book signing. People interested in attending Moore's speech, but don't yet have tickets, may obtain waiting list tickets at UPB.
