Jerrica Helleman-Ruden of Maxwell, Iowa died of head and neck injuries Friday while skiing at Lutsen Mountains in northeastern Minnesota.

The eleven-year old girl had been skiing the beginner's trails earlier in the day, but began taking the more challenging trails around 2 p.m. It was on one of those trails that she was found by the Cook County Police. They determined that she had hit her head on a rock. No one at Lutsen witnessed the incident, and it was declared an accident by the Cook County Sheriff's Department.

This is the second death this year that has occurred at Lutsen.

Broken relationship provokes South African man to commit shooting

Eleven people were killed Saturday after a South African man was dumped by his girlfriend.

Bulelani Vukwana, a 29-year old security guard from Mdsantane, South Africa, was so devastated by the break-up that he went on a shooting spree, killing 11 people including his girlfriend and her father. Six other people were also injured in the attack. Later that night, Vukwana committed suicide by turning the gun on himself.
