The issue: Online surveys are being offered to assess the climate of SCSU.
What we think: All members of the SCSU community should complete the appropriate survey. Doing so will give the most accurate portrayal of SCSU's climate.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission recently released its report on diversity issues at SCSU. People in different sectors have already complained that the report did not portray an accurate picture of SCSU.

There are two more climate assessments still to be completed at SCSU. One assessment was performed at the request of the SCSU Student Government. Results have not yet been disclosed.

The other assessment is currently in its second phase and gives an opportunity for everybody in the SCSU community to participate.
The assessment is being conducted by Nichols and Associates, which developed a survey with SCSU-specific questions.

There are two different surveys available. One is for faculty, staff and administrators. The other survey is strictly for students.

After the online surveys are completed, Nichols and Associates will analyze the data and then present it to SCSU President Roy Saigo and then to the public.

Answers will not be linked to participants, so there should be no worries about confidentially. You will only be asked to submit your e-mail account to protect the integrity of the survey.

The more people who choose to participate in this survey, the more specific the results will be.

For people on the SCSU campus who felt left out of the previous campus assessments, their time to be counted is now.

With more than 15,000 people involved with the SCSU campus, assessing the climate of the university is a very hard thing to tackle.
Conducting a survey online makes it readily available for everybody, whether they complete the survey from their own house or in a computer lab on campus. This is everybody's chance to make their voice heard.

Both surveys can be accessed at: www.nicholsandassoc.com.
