Judge not lest ye be judged

| Just recently Colin Powell was bashed by the Roman Catholic Church for condoning condom use. When asked again and given the chance to alter his statement, he stood by his guns ... good for him!
I have no problems with any religion; your choice to believe whatever you want is your right. I believe this right, granted to us by our nation's founders, is one of our most important. Consequently, one right not granted to us, but falsely practiced by many, is the right to judge.
If George W. Bush did a national campaign encouraging the consumption of pork to support pig farmers, do you think our nations Jewish community would be up in arms?
Do you think it bothers Jews that Catholics, Lutherans or Atheists consume pork?
Well, maybe, but do they make it their business to publicly attack and judge those who do? No.
Our nation is overcrowded and plagued with many different sexually transmitted diseases.
Because of these reasons I encourage the practice of safe sex, and think we should teach our youth about condom use.
Does that mean I'm anti-abstinence?
Absolutely not, that is a great plan also, just not as feasible. Go ahead and call me a crazy liberal, the anti-Christ or whatever you'd like.
I'd just like to think I'm being rational and realistic.
All of the Sunday school classes in the world are not going to stop our countries unmarried couples from having sex.
I believe that those who wish to engage in that type of behavior should be encouraged to use protection.
In some cases, although I know it would be impossible to enforce, I wish it would be mandatory.
I applaud you Colin Powell, for being realistic. This nation will get nowhere with a nose pointed in the air and a cheek turned away from reality.
