Hypocrisy in letter

I am responding to the letter in the opinion page titled "The Truth About Lobby Days" (University Chronicle, Feb. 21).

First off, let me start by saying that lobby day had its ups and downs. There is no excuse for the mistakes that Student Government made in setting up lobby day and it is inexcusable for the president of Student Government to lie to the student body.

My issue with the letter to the editor is the statement that Student Government mishandles the students money. There were two buses taken to the capital, one had two people to a seat and the other had one to a seat. If all the people who signed up came that day both buses would have been filled to capacity. If you want to talk about a waste of student dollars, take no look further than UPB. I believe they lost somewhere in the range of $30,000 at their last concert. To write a letter in the newspaper accusing Student Government of misusing student funds when the organization that you are president of has lost well over $100,000 of students money in the last couple of years is the definition of hypocrisy.

In no way is Student Government responsible for any increase in tuition or student fees on this campus. Once again I apologize to any student who was upset at what happened at lobby day. I hope that people take the mistakes that were made and learn from them, so that instances like this do not occur again.
