I completely agree with the opinion written by Tim O'Keenan in the March 4 (University Chronicle). Why does everyone think that the government is doing such a great job? Do any of these people realize that the government has spent years trying to assassinate Osama bin Laden? The U.S. government has sent in the military and snipers to try to get him, and clearly they have failed. Sept. 11 is a good excuse to get public acceptance of the so-called "war" against terrorism.
I don't know who attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, but the first thought in my mind actually was, "I wonder if Osama bin Laden had anything to do with this?" The one thing that I do agree on is that the Taliban is no longer in control and women are allowed to have jobs again, but the question is at what cost? How many innocent people are going to be dead after this whole thing is over? So many lives are going to be, and have been, lost by these events. It's going to be a long and tragic time for everyone.
