Weapons slip by airport security
In the months following the Sept. 11 attacks on New York and Washington, D.C., 32 U.S. airports failed to find weapons in under-cover tests conducted by government investigators.
The tests, which were conducted from November to February, when airport security was at its highest, were ordered by President Bush to ensure the safety of airplanes.
In the 783 tests, investigators slipped knives by the security guards 70 percent of the time. Screeners missed guns 30 percent of the time.
