I am writing in response to Tim O'Keenan's letter of opinion published in the March 21 edition of the (University) Chronicle. I am also writing a general response to every other socialistic opinion that has been published in this newspaper. First of all, if you don't like it here, no one is stopping you from leaving. You're right, maybe the U. S. doesn't have the right to control everything, but that is exactly what the Taliban is trying to do.
You made another good point. The "war on terrorism" may never be won. Does that mean we should give up all of our other wars? We are fighting wars everyday, including the war on drugs, the war on racism, and the war against sexism, just to name a few. When you people aren't writing about why the Taliban is so great, you're writing about why we should stop all forms of discrimination, while those morons over in Afghanistan are beating women and children and flying planes into buildings. Why wouldn't you want the Taliban taken out? They are an unrecognized government allowing radical groups to train on their soil in order to carry out terrorist attacks on innocent civilians.
How about Saddam Hussein? He got into power by executing his opponents and now may have the capability to create enough nuclear power to blow this entire world up in the blink of an eye. But I guess you're right, why stick our nose into their business? I'd rather have them drop a bomb on my house. Is that what you want? Is that what it's going to take to get you to realize how big of a detriment they are to this world? Maybe if one of those planes had come through your front door you would realize where the U. S. government is coming from.
