Car crashes into bike store window

After a collision with a pickup truck, a car flew through the window of Granite City Schwinn in St. Cloud on Friday afternoon.

Only the driver was injured in the accident, but according to store manager Mark Hume, the car missed an employee and a customer by just a few feet. The driver's name and condition at St. Cloud Hospital have not been released.

St. Cloud police said that the car crashed through the window around 4 p.m. after being hit by a truck at the intersection of 25th Ave. N. and First Street S. They believe that the driver of the car passed out after the two car collision causing his foot to land on the accelerator and drive into the store. Marty Meyer, driver of the pickup truck, said that the accident was initiated when the car went through a stop sign.

St. Cloud students sing for baseball

The group heard singing the national anthem before the Minnesota Twins game and "God Bless America" during the seventh inning stretch on Sunday were 22 students from Technical High School in St. Cloud.

The trip to the Metrodome for a Twins game has become an annual event for junior and senior members of the men's and women's ensemble. The students have become accustomed to singing the national anthem, but this year they received the added bonus of an additional song. "God Bless America" was added by major league baseball after Sept. 11.
