Your article in Thursday's (University) Chronicle, "Bandwagon Jumpers should be horsewhipped," could not have been more egotistical, cynical and poorly argued. You claim to be the ultimate Twins fan because you know who Otis Nixon is and you actually believe that you are a "superior" fan because you supported them during their losing seasons over the past decade.
The problem has not as much to do with losing as it does with just plain frustration. Pohlad alienated most Twins fans long ago by not even trying to field a winning team.
Major League Baseball's failure to implement any sort of salary cap has made the league impossibly unfair for small market teams, and Selig's recent contraction plans are depressing.
Finally, right in the face of all of this, the Twins put together an amazing season, and you're going around whining because fans are showing up that didn't come before? You are part of the problem, jackass. A true Twins fan would be ecstatic that people are going to the games and supporting the team, not excluding new fans.
I (went) to the Twins opener as well, and I (cheered) at the top of my lungs. I hope you find enough time between bitching and moaning to actually enjoy the game.
