Girl missing a year, but no one knew

A 5-year-old girl who was supposed to be in state custody in Miami, Fla., has been missing for a year, but no one noticed until last week.

Rilya Wilson was supposed to be under monthly supervision by the Florida Department of Children and Families. But both the department and the girl's grandmother, with whom she was supposed to be living, lost track of her for 15 months.

Somehow, both the department and the grandmother thought that the other party had custody of Wilson. They only realized that the girl was missing when a caseworker tried to check on her last week.

52 bodies recovered from Jenin camp

Fifty-two bodies have been recovered so far from the Jenin refugee camp following Israel's military campaign.

The Jenin Hospital said Wednesday that they had recovered the bodies, the number of which is consistent with an Israeli estimate. However, Palestinian authorities insist that many more lie buried under rubble the size of two football fields.

Palestinians have claimed that Israeli forces conducted a massacre inside the camp, but Israel has repeatedly denied the claims, saying its troops took measures to prevent harm to civilians.

The eight-day house-to-house fighting inside the camp left 23 Israeli soldiers dead.
