Response to Bushee

This message is being written in response to the article written by Scott Bushee in the April 29 (University Chronicle) issue.

You continually make arguments that are extremely short, aren't backed up with any references, and take stabs at groups of people that can't be easily fit into the nice packages that you think they do. I don't think you have a very good idea of what constitutes the left. Every part of politics is flawed, but our goal should be to try and create a situation that is equally fair for all parties involved. When these situations are created, you will see a great decrease in leftist activity, which you so narrowly refer to as people arguing constitutional rights.

I would argue that the left is constituted of people with the focus of reform in situations where inequality is perpetuated. You cannot marginalize the left into this specific situation and peg them as idiots based on some judgement that could be simply fabricated because it's so vague. I think that before you write another article, you should look at world politics. Why is the United States involved in Israel, Colombia, and the Philippines? Who are the benefactors in these situations? What are they doing here in the U.S.? And finally, who is rallying to stop the atrocious perpetuation in these situations? The left.

Turn off the television, man. Check out some alternative media sources, and do some research before you make snap judgements.
