Response to Goodrich
I am writing in response to Goodrich's April 25 letter to the (University) Chronicle. First I will start by pointing out that Mr. Goodrich's Zionist views were demonstrated clearly in his own words. He says that, "you can't get into people heads.. " and then without any reservation, he came up with a list of false statements to declare Arafat as a terrorist and not for peace.
Although I am not a big fan of Arafat, I could say that Arafat did nothing compared to the Nazi Sharon who perpetrated a list of massacres against the Palestinians, and nobody needs a fabricated document like what the IDF claim they found in PNA headquarters. The UN had thousands of documents about the crimes of Sharon and his massacres against the Palestinians, and it's enough to convict him as a war criminal.
Second, Palestinians want peace, but they all reject Barak's handout, and they resist the brutality of a butcher like Sharon. And when you say, "Arafat gave Israel the intifada" it is nothing but rubbish, because the resistance of the Palestinian nation to a brutal and viscous occupation is beyond Arafat's whims.
If you want to know Barak's offers, I refer you to the Israeli peace activists who described it as "people without land." According to this offer, the Palestinian areas are disconnected islands scattered around the West Bank, dissected by for-Jews-only highways built on demolished Palestinian houses and confiscated Palestinian land. The Palestinian control is limited to collecting garbage and tax collection. Everything else is under Israel's mercy including the control of water resources. Hence, the current offer is basically the old Allon Plan, (but with more fanfare and fireworks,) which was designed to enable Israel to maintain the advantages of the occupation, while avoiding dealing with the domestic problems.
The Peace Process has made the Israeli occupation legitimate and the Palestinian's rightful resistance to occupation terrorism.
Third, your description of the Israeli women, as victims, and you ignore the Palestinian victims and their suffering for 52 years is another example of your Zionist views that live with the slogan "Once a victim always a victim".
Fourth, when is the time to show the real face of the Zionist lobby, which runs like a cancer in this country? So far, they isolated this country from the rest of the world, continued to drain its resources, and if this is not enough, they are trying to equate the actions of an apartheid regime in an occupied land, to this country war on terrorism. Occupied Palestine is not Afghanistan; unless you, Mr. Goodrich, see the US actions in Afghanistan as an occupation?
Finally, the liberation of Palestine will only come after the liberation of Washington from AIPAC.
