Up and coming bands to capture SCSU

Unknown and up and coming bands Kill Hannah, Kazzer, Carbondale and Revis are set to play September 14 at 7 p.m. for the You Saw It First Tour, put on by the University Program Board.

Weather permitting, the concert will be held on Atwood Mall, otherwise it will be held in Atwood Ballroom. The event, as well as parking and food, is free to students and the public.

SCSU is the first stop for this national tour.

The Chicago based band, Kill Hannah, recently signed to Atlantic Records, features “a powerful combination of dynamite power chords, catchy electronic laden loops, keyboard licks, anthem-like vocals, bombastic drum work and an uncanny knack for big radio hooks,” according to the band’s biography.

Kazzer, another band in the lineup, was recently signed to Epic Records. “The 25-year old Canadian-born microphone genius is known for fluid rhymes and irresistible hooks,” said his biography.

His debut album,”Go For Broke,” is based on old-school hip hop, pop and hard-driving rock.

Ryan Meints, the Concerts Coordinator for UPB was very excited about Kazzer.

”The Go For Broke album is expected to be in Sony Music’s top 6 list, and he will have a music video out within the next 2 months,” Meints stated.

Carbondale, formerly known as Esmeralda, are natives of New York City. The band formed two years ago and has already been signed to RCA Records this past December.

“Their stage presence and sound will blow anyone away,” states the band’s biography.

The newly signed Epic-recording artists Revis will perform instead of Wayne, who was originally scheduled to perform.

Meints is thrilled about the tour. His committee has been busy putting the concert together, and believe that it will pay off.

Meints said,”We are really trying to push this tour because these bands are going to be huge within the next couple of years. I think the students and public will be impressed with the talent at this concert.”
