Gary Anderson comes back under cloud of frustration in kicking game
The Minnesota Vikings have re-signed kicker Gary Anderson this week with a one-year contract at the cost of $750,000.

The resigning comes after former kicker Doug Brien missed two extra points and a 44-yard field goal in Sunday's 45-39 loss to Buffalo. While Brien will remain on the roster, Anderson will take over the majority of the Vikings' placekicking duties.

Coach Mike Tice had decided not to re-sign Anderson at the beginning of the season but changed his mind after Sunday's game. Anderson had turned down a contract offer from the New York Giants two weeks ago.

88-year-old woman charged with assault for shooting friend in back
An 88-year-old woman was charged Tuesday with first-degree assault in the shooting of a 63-year-old friend at a senior citizen high rise in Minneapolis.

Lucille Keppen was arrested in the shooting of Stephen B. Flesche over a financial issue. Keppen told investigators that she had known Flesche for about four years and had been helping him financially. She also told police that, about four months ago, Flesche began receiving money elsewhere and ignored her.

Keppen shot Flesche in the back with a .38 caliber revolver Sunday.
