Faculty art enlivens SCSU

Student Brian Arms takes a look at “Cowboy Ottomans,” a mixed media work by Alexa Horochowski. The art displayed in the Kiehle Galleries of the KielhleVisual Arts Center is done by faculty members. The exhibit runs through Sept. 27.

Desi Jam entertains SCSU

On Friday, more than 50 Southeast Asia students were entertained by Desi Jam in the Atwood Quarry. The free event was organized by the Indian Heritage Club.

'Desi' is an Indian slang word for people from Southeast Asia. The dances included Punjabi 'Bhangra', Hip-hop and 'Desi' Pop.

Outdoor concert expands horizons

The 13th annual Earth Mother Mind Jam rocked the Powder Ridge Ski Area Saturday, with a multi-cultural festival where people from all walks of life came together to expand their horizons.

According to Michelle Joiner, event coordinator, through the diversity of music showcased at the festival, audience members are subjected to styles they wouldn't normally see.

Violist to perform

A free viola recital will showcase the talents of violist Coca Bochonko along with pianist Anne Oleksowicz and violist David Arnott. It will be sponsored by the music department on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. The recital will be held in the Ruth Gant Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center.
