The time is now Husky fans

| This just in SCSU students: the Husky football team is GOOD!
The Huskies played well again Saturday against the South Dakota Coyotes, improving their record to 3-0 on the season. Unfortunately, except for the few students that attended the game at Selke Field, nobody seems to care.
The Huskies improved to 2-0 on the season at home, but I didn't really get a sense of home-field advantage considering that the South Dakota fans astronomically outnumbered the SCSU fans.
So why aren't students coming out to support their Huskies? Maybe it's the prison-like atmosphere at Selke Field. Don't worry, there aren't any prisoners inside the stadium and fans are allowed to leave whenever they wish.
Maybe it's the one mile walk to the stadium the day after a long Friday night. The games don't start until 1 p.m. so you'll have plenty of time to recover and make it to the field.
Whatever your reason is, I encourage you to come out to a game. After all, this is the best team the Huskies have had in years; in fact, it's the first time they've started 3-0 since the 1995 season.
The Huskies feature a high-powered offense which is averaging 431 yards and 36 points a game, along with a defense that is giving up just 219 yards and 15 points per game.
The Huskies have undoubtedly the best QB-WR combo in the NCC, and possibly two future NFL players in quarterback Keith Heckendorf and wide receiver Ben Nelson.
For the second week in a row, Heckendorf threw for five touchdowns and Nelson hauled in four touchdown catches. Heckendorf has already thrown for 767 yards and 14 touchdowns in three games, while Nelson has caught 22 passes for 338 yards and nine touchdowns.
Nelson has 27 career touchdown catches, just one shy of the school record.
Students need to start coming out and showing their support for their Huskies, because this is a good team who deserves better support from students. I know some of you may be thinking, "Yeah, but it's only Division II." Keep in mind that the Huskies play in one of the toughest conferences in Division II, which means the level of talented athletes is very high.
Come on, what else are you gonna do, go sit in some crappy dome and watch the Gophers play? A Gopher team who stacks their non-conference schedule with top notch teams like Buffalo, Louisiana-Lafayette and Southwest Texas State! I'd like to see that great Golden Gopher defense stop Keith Heckendorf and Ben Nelson.
It's time to start showing the Huskies the kind of support they haven't seen since the early Clinton administration. The Huskies host South Dakota State this Saturday at Selke Field. I would encourage everyone to get out there and show their support for the Huskies.
Outback Steakhouse usually sponsors a tailgating party before the game where fans have a chance to mingle and eat some good food, while the dorms on campus normally organize a way to transport students to and from the game. Those of you who are attending Husky games on a regular basis, keep coming and cheering on the Huskies. Those of you who aren't, come out to Selke Field this Saturday because you're missing a good team.
