It’s time to get your Freak off

It’s time to turn our Freak off as Minnesota Vikings fans.
Randy “Two Misdemeanors” Moss turned in quite a performance during rush hour on Tuesday in downtown Minneapolis. His act of stupidity not only worsens the Vikings reputation as a team on the downward turn, but now the Freak’s reputation has taken an even more negative dip. Moss was attempting to make a turn from the wrong lane when a Minneapolis traffic control officer ordered him to stop. In the official police report that was released on Wednesday, the officer stated that she stepped in front of the vehicle to prevent Moss from going any further. She ordered him to stop, but he continued to move his 2002 Lexus toward her. He eventually pushed the officer a half a block down Marquette Avenue before she eventually fell down.
The officer only suffered a few cuts and bruises from the encounter. After the incident, she radioed in that she needed assistance in dealing with the Freak. Officers came to the scene immediately and Moss was arrested. The enigmatic wide-out spent the night in jail before being released early in the afternoon on Wednesday. Moss was charged with two misdemeanors, which were careless driving, and failure to obey a traffic officer. The two counts could result in the potential of 90 days in jail, and/or a $1,000 fine.
To top it all off, a marijuana cigarette was found in his Lexus. I guess there’s nothing like a big hit from your roach before you try to run over a traffic control woman.
Now the question for Vikings fans is what to do with your feelings towards Mr. Freak. Already there was a love/hate relationship building between Vikings nation and Moss. His, “I play when I want to play,” spiel last season just reflected what kind of lazy player he had become.
Even if he was in the psychological state of road rage, there is no excuse for trying to run down a traffic officer. It doesn’t even matter if he was joking or not. No matter what position you’re in, what he did is inexcusable. It now may be time to upgrade those anger management sessions that failed so miserably in the off-season.
On Sunday when the Vikes play the Seattle Seahawks, I want all of you who are watching to stick your middle finger up at the television screen. Or just do the, “Ross Geller,” and click your clenched fists together twice. Whatever works for you is fine, as long as it’s some form of an obscene gesture. As Vikings fans, if we create the obscene gesture heard around Minnesota, I believe it will relieve us to no end. Furthermore, if you ever get the chance to see Moss face-to-face, just give him a close-up of your favorite pet bird.
The Freak signed a $75 million contract before last season. But because of this incident, and others in his past, there is no way that he deserves any of that cash. The Freak has proved to be just a freak of nature. Moss has all the talent in the world, but fame and stardom that come with the NFL has caught up with him. He’s now just another football druggie who cares more about bongs than brains.
