Simply Lost finds Red Carpet, fan base

When Michael Brazys first came to SCSU he never thought he would leave with anything other than a degree in criminal justice. Things have changed for this fourth-year student.

Brazys has always had a passion for the drums ever since he first began playing them at age seven. Brazys' more recent musical endeavors began about a year ago. He and his friends realized that they all had a passion for music and the talent needed to begin their own band.

Brazys, along with friends Derek Smith, David Adams, Curt Leitschuh, Mitch Wronski and Eric Halverson, combined their talents and formed the band now known as Simply Lost.

Simply Lost played this past Thursday night at 10:30 p.m. at the Red Carpet in Down town St. Cloud. The band rocked its audience with a lot of their own original music along with covers of other bands such as Green Day, Everclear and Better Than Ezra.

By the third song the crowd was already up on its feet and on the dance floor. A great deal of the audience consisted of a fan base the band has acquired throughout the past year.

"Our fans are great," Brazys said. "And also very supportive. They try to make it to every show to support us and we really appreciate them."

And that is the truth. Fans traveled from as far as Duluth to attend this show, such as fan Megan Gustafson.

"This band rules," Gustafson shouted during the show.

They know how to get everyone in the crowd involved. Gustafson came from Champlin to attend the show.

Now that this band is enjoying a great deal of success Brazys may leave SCSU a rock star with a criminal justice degree.

Simply Lost will be playing at The Uptown Bar in Minneapolis on Wednesday at 10 p.m.

There will also be a show at First Avenue on Nov. 26 at 10 p.m. First Avenue is also located in Minneapolis.
